I never really think I'm going to write another book until I do. Then, as usually happens, one day I sit down and start typing. Several bleary-eyed days later, I emerge, blinking in the brightness of the real world, with a new book in tow. I believed that once I was "done" telling the Wellington story (and let's be honest, I'm never 100 percent done with that), I'd be out of books. The universe, however, has other ideas. I'm really proud of Pioneer Spirits because it tells the tale of another haunted place I love - the Lewis County Historical Museum in my hometown of Chehalis, Washington. I've been lucky enough that Patty Valdez and South Sound Paranormal Research welcomed me into their team and introduced me to this wonderful place. Since 2010, I've investigated the museum myself and listened to the stories of my teammates, as well as museum volunteers, employees, and visitors. Now, with Patty's help, they are all on paper in book form. My goal with Pioneer Spirits is simple. I want to give you a front row seat to a true haunt. I want you to feel what it is like to experience a real haunting. Hopefully, I've accomplished that here. I've tentatively sent the book to a few of my "soft targets" to get their opinions. In other words, I've sent it to people who care about me and begged them to say nice things. Either my friends are total pushovers, or they've enjoyed the book. Or perhaps a little of both. I love the Lewis County Historical Museum. I am a volunteer there, and I'm proud to be part of a team that preserves and shares the history of the town where my children grew up. I'm also happy to spend time among my spirit friends who reside in the museum. They are happy you are hearing their story. If you'd like, you can pick up a copy of the book online. Or, you can come on down to the Lewis County Historical Museum. The book will go on sale in the museum on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 5 to 7 PM at the organization's annual event, the Authors' Evening. Patty Valdez and I will be on hand, signing books. Several other authors from the area will be signing their books, as well. If you like to give the gift of reading to people on your holiday shopping list, it's a terrific time to do it…and the proceeds support the museum. Normally after I've written a book, I'm pretty sure I'm done and my book writing days are behind me. This time, however, I know of at least one more story I'd like to tell. Hopefully, after things die down with this book a little (no pun intended), I can get started. It's nice going into a book knowing that I'm going to write it, and I'm excited. We'll see if the universe has other plans.
